The 17th International Accounting & Finance Doctoral Symposium is focused on developing doctoral students' research strengths and skills. This symposium is hosted by Parthenope University, Naples in partnership with the Bond University, Politecnico di Milano - Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering, SKEMA Business School, SOAS University of London, Universidad de Salamanca, Università di Bologna, University of Leeds, University of Liverpool, University of Queensland, University of Strathclyde Business School, University of Birmingham and the University of Vaasa.

The symposium builds on the tremendous success of previous meetings, which took place in Paris (2023) Athens (2022), Glasgow (2021), Milan (2019), Wales (2018), Warsaw (2017), Glasgow (2016), Ljubljana (2015), Trondheim (2014), Bologna (2013), Glasgow (2012), Salamanca (2011), and Prato (2008-2010). IAFDS 2024 offers an excellent opportunity for students to present their work to an international audience outside their university environment. Prominent professors and researchers in finance, banking and accounting attend the symposium and provide detailed feedback to individual participants on their research.

At IAFDS 2024, the plenary session will be dedicated to a keynote speech by Prof Robert Faff, the theme of which will be “Responsible Science”.

Each participant will receive a written review of their submitted paper, the opportunity to present their work to leading professors, a detailed one-on-one discussion with an experienced academic about their paper, and an excellent networking experience with other doctoral students from around the globe.

At the end of the symposium, certificates will be awarded for the Michael McKenzie Best Paper, the Maria Strydom Best Presenter, the George Tanewski Paper with Most Potential, Best Pitch, and Best Discussant.

All students will receive a Certificate confirming their participation at IAFDS 17.

SCOPE:

We seek original empirical and theoretical papers in finance, banking and accounting, emphasising findings that contribute to solving outstanding research problems of significant impact within these disciplines.

PAPER SUBMISSION INFORMATION:

The submission should be a full paper (with analysis/results). The Doctoral Symposium programme committee will review each submission. The main evaluation criteria are:

- Quality and originality of research

- The potential for impact

- Relevance to the accounting, banking and finance disciplines.

Only electronic submissions in PDF or Word format will be considered.

PARTICIPATION FEE:

Accepted students to the programme will be required to pay a fee of £300. This fee covers registration, symposium documents, lunches, refreshments and the Welcome Reception and Gala dinner.
